“In the future”, Marcel Duchamp said, “an artist will only need to point and make art.” The future is now and I point my camera. My mind does all the creative work and what I capture is just an interpretation of the original idea. The camera is just a tool, just as words are tools for communication.
My work is at once documentary and abstract. The image is a document of a place and time that becomes understood, or lost in thought which is the abstract. I am self taught and it is only fair to call myself a conceptual artist. My background is in graphic design which led to photography and now architecture.
Barcelona, Spain is where I began studying Spanish and architecture. My studies abroad eventually lead me back to my native land to study organic architecture at Taliesin West in Arizona. I honed my photographic skills at Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio, an accredited school of architecture that began in 1932.
